[BERWICK-UPON-TWEED, ENGLAND] — Scotland’s Golf Coast, an East Lothian marketing
alliance boasting the greatest concentration of championship links courses in the world, has
welcomed Goswick Golf Links as a full member — extending for the first time its reach south
of the Scotland/England border.
With the addition of Goswick, Scotland’s Golf Coast now has 22 golf courses, several
accommodation providers and other partners that work in close collaboration to offer the
travelling links golf aficionado a premier one-stop-shopping experience when looking to
organise a trip of a lifetime. Other members of note include Muirfield, North Berwick,
Gullane and the Renaissance Club which will once again host the Genesis Scottish Open in
July.
“Adding Goswick to our portfolio just made perfect sense,” said David Cockerton, Scotland’s
Golf Coast Director. “It is a first-rate authentic James Braid-designed links course that will no
doubt appeal to golfers who base their trips in East Lothian. If they arrive via Edinburgh
Airport, Goswick is just an hour’s drive away. If they approach along the east coast of
England or from the Continent via the North Sea ferry, Goswick is right on their way north to
Scotland. It is a great addition and features in the new Gateway to Scotland golf package
presented on our website.”
Indeed. Goswick, founded in 1890, is:
- One of the world’s few pure fescue golf links with fairways that deliver a lively bounce and green that roll fast and true all year-round;
- One of the top 100 links golf courses in Great Britain and Ireland according to Golf World;
- One of the top 50 courses of all kinds in England according to National Club Golfer, and;
- One of just 15 courses selected by the R&A to host Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship through 2024.
It’s also a club that’s on the move, having now embarked on an ambitious plan to make an
already great links even better under the guidance of world-renowned golf course architects
Mackenzie & Ebert. Significant enhancements to the front 9 are scheduled to be in play in
2026.
“Those of us at Goswick very much welcome this opportunity to work in concert with other
like-minded partners to help deliver a first-rate experience to discerning golf travellers,”
said Goswick General Manager Keith Martin. “Scotland might be the home of golf. But
Goswick serves as proof that great links golf can be found just a short drive south along the
Northumberland coast.”
